Preacher on the Run…

Faith, Family, Ministry, and Everything in between

Feature Friday (09/01/17)

Labor Day weekend. Sunshine. Cookouts. Family. Friends. It is officially here. The final weekend before the reality of “back to school” routine hits come Tuesday. As a parent, this weekend could be exciting as the return of a routine hits. As a student, this weekend is infuriating, summer just started, right?

But the reality is we all want to ease into the school year. So how do you do that? Jon Acuff shares three simple ways to “Successfully Ease Out of Summer and Back to School“. Check out the Parent Cue blog and enjoy the last few days of the summer.

As always, be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s Day!

Summer is here, which means slower pace of life, vacation, and hopefully some needed R&R for many of us. While summer may not slow down at work or home, the reality is with vacations and summer break from school, it tends to be a less busy and active time of the year. This is unfortunately the case for many churches. So what is a church leader to do?

Charley Reeb gives 6 Ways to Keep Your Church Faithful During the Summer. “Don’t settle for a lazy summer church! Here are six things you can do to keep giving and attendance strong during the summer.” Check out the six suggestions and as a starter, be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day.

Vacation. Sleep in. More time with the family. Go to an amusement park. Head to the beach. All of these are typical answers I receive when asking the question: what are you doing this summer? As a leader summer can be a time for some extra rest and relaxation, but it must not be a time to totally check out. Summer can be a great time to advance your organization, team, and self.

Tommy Bowman has a great article encouraging leaders to manage their summers well. So here are “3 Ways to Steward Your Summer Well“. Enjoy the read and as always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!

Back from Brazil!

It’s summer. Summer means vacation, visits, weekend get away’s, and mission trips. And this past month I had a great opportunity and privilege to embark on a mission trip to one of the most desirable places this year…Brazil. With all the World Cup hype and futbol frenzy Brazil is a country of great focus this summer. While I, my wife, and the six students that went, did not go to Brazil for the World Cup; we realized the great prospect for furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ God gave us. Here is a brief recap of our trip. I hope to share more in the posts to come, but for now enjoy the sights of Porto Alegre Brazil!
