No! My son had just shouted back at me. And I was a bit caught off guard. I had simply asked him if he wanted to read one of his favorite books and the reply was unexpected and unusual. Why had he responded so vehemently? What caused him to lash out in such an unforeseen way? It came down to delight. In that moment, my son found no delight in or desire to read that book. Unfortunately, I face the same thing at times in regards to another book.
I know it’s good for me. I know I should. I even desire to read it most days. However, there are those days where reading God’s Word holds no delight. I could focus on the why and begin to feel guilty and ashamed, but I like the direction Casey Lewis heads in his article: How Can I Delight in God’s Word?
As always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!
