What’s your ONE thing? When you get to the end of your life what one word or phrase would you want to define and describe you? If there was simply one way people would remember you after you are gone, what would that be? It could be a character description. It could be an activity or accomplishment. Whatever it may be do you know what it is?

“To begin with the end in mind means to start with a clear understanding of your destination. It means to know where you’re going so that you better understand where you are now and so that the steps you take are always in the right direction.”

Steven Covey

Knowing where you want to end makes it more clear to know where to begin. That was Covey’s point with the quote above. While the statement is often used in regard to a goal or project to be accomplished I often think of it in terms of my life’s purpose. As a follower of Jesus I believe my life’s purpose has already been clarified in Matthew 28:19 – “Go, therefore, and MAKE DISCIPLES…

So if there is one way I would want to be remembered and described at the end of my life it would have to be “disciple-maker”. I want to be known as someone who pointed and helped others follow Jesus who would go on to point and help others follow Jesus. Every follower of Jesus Christ would probably say or believe the same thing, which leaves us one question, why are more followers of Jesus pointing and helping others follow Jesus?

That is the basic question of Ajith Fernando’s article “5 Reasons We Don’t Disciple“. To be honest #4 on this list I have struggled with and heard more often than not as a reason not to disciple. Which reason stuck out most to you and why?

Enjoy the article, pray about someone you could disciple or someone who could disciple you and make the ask this weekend…as always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!
