Spring is a time of growth. The flowers begin to blossom and emerge from the soil. Trees begin to bud as their leaves prepare to burst onto the sunny scene. And of course, the grass will start to grow taller and taller as the spring gives way to summer. There is so much growth that will take place in the coming months. Not only will nature burst forth with more colors and animation, but hopefully we will see maturation in ourselves as well.

As the sun shines more, a greater internal desire breaks in to accomplish a new project, develop a new skill, or fertilize the soil of my heart for an abundance of growth. But this new opportunity for improvement begs the question of what maturity looks like and how it is accomplished. What is the pathway to maturity? What is the goal of maturity? And make no mistake we must not confuse the goal with the path.

“means becomes dangerous when it becomes ultimate”

Justin Mykoagpangan

There are countless historical examples when someone mistook the means as the ends. It always resulted in disastrous, burdensome outcomes. So we must have a clear picture of what maturity is, as well as, the means to get there. This is what Justin writes about in his article “Maturity“. It is a great, succinct article expressing the goal of maturity and how we often mistake the means for the ends.

I hope you enjoyed the article and I’d love to hear your thoughts. What are some ways you are hoping to mature or grow this spring? Do you have a plan for that? As always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day knowing that this is one of the means God has gifted us for our maturity.

Until Next Time…
