Preacher on the Run…

Faith, Family, Ministry, and Everything in between

Feature Friday (1/20/17)

A day where history will be made. A milestone for America. A potential change (for better or worse is still to be determined) for much of the world. A cause that will send a ripple effect into the near future for years to come. What is this day? Another presidential inauguration for the United States of America.

After one of the most hostile and highly publicized Presidential races in American history, Mr. Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. It was no easy road to the White House for Mr. Trump and once he is Mr. President the path will most certainly be an uphill battle. But the question is how should one respond on a day like today? How should one react over the next 4 years?

As a Christian the easy and yet difficult answer is: submit to the government as instated by God. I say easy because the answer is easy. I say difficult because living it is an entirely different reality. So to help one understand here is a message on “Why Christians Submit to the Government” preached by John MacArthur. Enjoy the synopsis article here or the entire message here.

Feature Friday (5/6/16)

Presidential Election 2016! Republican or Democrat?  Make America Great Again or Hilary for America? Trump or Hilary? Mention any of these names or slogans and emotions are sure to get heated and discussion will turn to debate. The question however being debated is not so much who are you voting for, but who should you vote for. Especially among believers in Jesus Christ this topic can cause division and confusion.

Often the phrase is put like this: how should I choose between two evils?” While I do not desire to debate this political issue, I find this video extremely helpful and insightful as to how addressing how believers should view the 2016 presidential race.

Enjoy and as always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day. Oh, and sit with your mom if you can!!!

Feature Friday (10/16/15)

Ask most people that know me and they will tell you I can be sarcastic at times. Ask my wife and she will tell you that sarcasm is one of my love languages. Ask others who do not know me that well and they may mistake my sarcasm for rudeness. The point is, I can be, am, and enjoy good sarcasm. Sarcasm has a way of making a point that otherwise would not be heard. This is why I enjoyed reading this sarcastic article so much. While it is a bit lengthy it is well worth your time.

Enjoy and as always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!

Feature Friday (12/20/13)

JeremiahSo I know most of you are expecting some sort of Christmas feature this Friday, but I am going to disappoint you. I recently have been reading through a book I recommend entitled, The Most Misused Verses in the Bible by Eric J. Bargerhuff. It is a quick, insightful, yet challenging book on how we (western Evangelical Christians) often apply every verse of the Bible directly to us. But in light of reading that book, I would like to share with you a recently-written blog post on the same topic. “Jeremiah 29:11 is not about you” is a short, concise post and challenge to us all. It calls us all to refrain from applying God’s Word one-for-one too quickly to our lives. And if you have not gotten that final stocking stuffer for yourself or other readers in your family, The Most Misused Verses in the Bible could be that fit!

As always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!

Special Feature Monday (10/14/13)

the_worlds_greatest_pastor_card-p137263073445483299tdn0_400In light of what was a very busy weekend and a busy start to the week enjoy this “guest” post. This question and the practicality of it seems to be more of an issue everyday given the capabilities the internet has given us. So…”who is your pastor…REALLY?”

Check back next Monday for another original post!

Feature Friday (9/27/13)

Busyness! – It seems like every conversation I have these days, busyness comes into the mix. “How are you doing today?” Oh, man I am busy! “How are things going with you?” I am busy! Why is it that busyness seems like such a badge we wear proudly? Especially as Christians, we need time to stop, reflect, pray, spend time in the Word, and process what is happening in life. So how can we help each other in this endeavor? Here is a helpful article pleading, “Christians, Protect Each Other from Busyness“.

Enjoy! As always, be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!
