While I'd love to tell you every evening is without hiccups, kids hanging on every word we talk about, and no fight in sight, the reality is not so. There are nights when all we can do is get the kids together and do a quick prayer.
I love people who take the initiative. These people see a problem, develop a solution, and then want to execute the plan. This is a good thing. But it does breed another problem.
At the end of the day leadership in any realm - parenting, business, sports, etc. - comes down to relational influence. To lead someone else is really to influence them. And if we are going to influence others it begins and ends with relationships.
While rest and peace are necessary and I may not do it well the reality is that even the endless enjoyment of rest and peace won't solve the issue, in fact, it may deepen the problem.
