Social media. Those two words have changed so much over the past decade. It was meant to help friends relate from a distance. It was supposed to connect others together. It was praised to be a great way to gather digitally when getting together physically was the barrier. Social media was supposed to be, well, positive.
Yet things have changed as social media has grown and developed. While it is true one can connect with friends, make new ones, and gather digitally there have also been darker realities social media has brought out. Instead of happily discussing our shared interests, social media has become a breeding ground for beat downs over differences. So how is one to navigate this minefield?
Jesus once addressed the ways we relate to our enemies and his teaching is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago.
Tim Challies
This is one reason I appreciate the Bible so much. While it would be considered an antiquated document, it still shows relevance to our day to day lives. This is why I loved Tim Challies article addressing this very issue: “How to Respond to Social Media Enemies“. He points us to a very simple yet profound truth of Jesus.
Check out the ancient truth applied to our modern day problem and see if it challenges you. It challenged my thinking and actions when it comes to social media. As always I hope you enjoy the article and be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!
