Churches are seeking to be known for something. They desire to be known as recognizable with certain characteristics, certain truths. Whether it be correct teaching, compassionate living, aiding others, educating, or any number of other things. The truth is churches are seeking to have, make, build, or develop a brand also.
While not all content is appropriate for all listeners, actually much of it may be seen as offensive, the reality of Rogan's demeanor is worth noting, especially for believers
While many Christians, churches, and even pastors may agree with this statement, what is meant by it varies greatly. More evangelistic people, churches, and pastors interpret that as "we must reach the lost, that is the mission of the church". More maturity focused people, churches and pastors may see that statement and read "we must make sure people know their doctrine, Bible, and how to defend their faith, that is the mission of the church". However, I think both of those are aspects of not the actual purpose of the church.
All of these images should evoke a different emotion and response, that's the intention. Even as we see the church depicted in ways designed to illicit positive emotions, the reality can be quite different. And this past year was no different...
Good leaders are needed everywhere. Whether it is in your family, your team, your workplace, your church, or your community, our world needs more good leaders. But the funny thing about leadership is, at least in part, it has to be learned.
Leadership is difficult on any given day, but it seems as though 2020 has heightened that hardship. It has seemed especially so in my leadership context of a church.
