I couldn’t believe it. It really was true. The dream had become a reality. I jumped up and down with great joy, celebrating what I thought I might never see with my own eyes. There were a few others celebrating with me, but many were sitting still in disbelief. The one thing we all knew was that the Steelers were not supposed to win that year.

The Steelers finished the regular season with an 8-8 record. Nothing to be proud of and certainly nothing most playoff teams would fear. But somehow they had made it through the wild card, divisional, and conference championships all the way to the Super Bowl. In that championship game, there were plenty of moments of doubt, but in the end a confident victory was won. And sometimes, that is exactly what living out the Christian faith can be like…a road with doubts along the way, but victory at the end.

When dealing with doubt, don’t go off alone and in the dark.

Doubt is not the antithesis of faith. All too often it’s the precursor for strong faith. Yet the myth that doubt is opposed to faith lives on – especially when it comes to Christian students heading off to college. Frequently these 18 years olds are told they must never doubt, but then when questions arise instead of digging deeper, they are paralyzed and never grow. Unfortunately, a common result is giving in to the doubt without doubting those doubts. So how can parents, pastors, and other loving adults help doubting students? Michael Kruger shares 6 Ways Christian Students Can Prepare for College in his recent blog series. And #5 is all about busting the myth that Doubting Your Faith Does Not Make You a Bad Christian.

Somethings are too good to be true. However, there are also realities that are too bad to be true. This is where doubting our doubts can become a vital skill. Don’t let doubt rule the day. Investigate. Discover. Learn. Keep seeking truth and the answers. What did you think of Michael’s article? I really appreciated #2 & #3 in his article on doubt. What else would you add?

As always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!

Until Next Time…
