Can you believe it’s 2025 already? I think this statement comes up every new year. Another 365 days have gone by, and it seems like it flew. No matter how many of these “new years” come and go, I am still partially caught off guard by how quickly the last year went by. However, this year seemed to flip the calendar on me unexpectedly. While I would typically take a day to reflect on the past year, look forward to the new year, and make a few goals, I never really made the time to do that this year. But one thing was evident to me about the past year…
Prayer was not the priority it should have been. It was a part of my life and routine, but that was the problem, as I see it—it was just routine and a habit. Prayer became a perfunctory activity rather than relational fervency. Don’t get me wrong I had some good prayer times with Jesus and others. But it wasn’t the norm of life for me. My first inclination was not often to pray, to let my Father know my heart and take my burdens and joys to Him. I want that to change in 2025.
A disciplined prayer life is the source of spiritual strength.
Robb Brunansky
Don’t get me wrong, I am under no pretense that more prayer equals more favor from God or even more answers. But one thing I know it means is: more time with God. And that is the goal for me – to spend more time and better time with my Father this year. Whether it be my daily time or “as I go” prayers or prayer times with others, I want to talk to God more this year. Robb Brunansky throws out “The New Year’s Prayer Challenge” and I find it convicting. Admittedly, I don’t think I’ll start out with the weekly hour challenge he lays out, but I think I’ll start attempting the challenge at least once a month.
What about you? Do you have any goals you are attempting this year? Any areas of life you felt lacking in last year that you want to address this year? What challenges are you accepting this year? Would you join me in the prayer challenge? If so, I’d love to hear what your goals or accepted challenges are? I always love hearing and am inspired by what others are doing and learning. As always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s Day.
Until Next Time…

Thank You,
Pastor Kenny.
Oh yes, You shaped me first inside, then out; You formed me in my Mother’s womb…
Like an open book, You watched
me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you.
The days of my life all prepared before
I’d even lived one day…
From Psalm 139
