Has your mind ever gotten stuck? The kind of stuck you can’t seem to shake. It might be a thought lodged deep within the crevices of your internal monologue. It could be the phrase someone said to you years ago but still lingers loudly in the back of your head. There are times when my mind gets stuck like a pig in the mud. The only difference is the pig likes it.
I don’t like being stuck. To feel as if I am not making progress is bad, but to feel like I can’t is a completely different level of frustration. Minds can get caught up in the most trivial things. And to be honest, it’s really want we all desire. To be uninhibited in thought. To have creativity and freedom reign. But that is not always our experience. So what do we do? Can we help ourselves in anyway?
This is the hardest step in interrupting a poisonous thought: you speak to the Lord.
Ed Welch
While there are many forms of coping with a stuck mind, many of which are destructive, it is not an isolated issue. We are not alone in the struggle. There are resources and aids to unstuck our minds. Ed Welch provides a helpful guide and tool for “When Your Mind Gets Stuck“. There are strategies and advice galore to overcome a stuck mind, but what Ed provides here is free, simple, and can be practiced anywhere, anytime.
Getting stuck is something we all experience. But getting unstuck is something we all desire. What do you think about Ed’s advice? Is it practical enough? Too simple? Try it this week or the next time your mind is stuck and see how helpful it is. As always I love to hear from my reader so leave me a comment and be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day.
Until Next Time…
