Preacher on the Run…

Faith, Family, Ministry, and Everything in between

Feature Friday (3/30/17)

Are we there yet? I remember uttering this phrase countless times as a child. Those words came out of my mouth most frequently on long trips to grandma’s house. In those days, I could not wait to get to where we were going. All I thought about was the destination.

Now as a father of an energetic talkative 4 year old, the phrase “are we there yet” is a bit irritating. It’s not that I don’t understand or can’t relate, I still love getting to our destination on trips, but the older I get, and the more trips we take as a family, the more my mentality shifts. No longer do I care only about the destination, but now I simply look forward to the journey as well.

The same can and should be said of salvation. The problem is we tend to talk about salvation as simply a destination to arrive at and not a journey that we are on. As Bill Hull points out in this week’s Feature Friday, “the New Testament speaks of salvation as both an event and a process—a journey.”. Check out the rest of the article “What Does It Mean to be Saved“.

As always, be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!

Feature Friday (12/16/16)

With Christmas upon us in less than a week and the hustle and bustle of gift getting, gift wrapping, and travel plans in a hurry I figured an appropriate encouraging yet challenging topic would be due. What topic you ask? Well, when I think about the amount of travel that will take place in the next couple weeks Sam Storms article comes to mind.

No matter where you are from or where you are heading this Christmas season, one thing is for sure – you will not be alone. God will be with you. It’s kind of one of His characteristics to be omnipresent or put another way, God is everywhere. And Sam Storms does a fantastic job of sharing 10 Things You Should Know about God’s Omnipresence.

Enjoy the article, but even more so enjoy the God who is omnipresent this weekend with His people on His day.

Back and Forth Again!

Do you ever have so much going on in your life that you feel like a ping pong ball getting hit back and forth again and again? That has been the exact feeling I have had over the past 10 days. Just over 1 week ago we left for a wedding in central Pennsylvania, only to return home 2 days later. Upon arriving home, we went to church that Sunday, and promptly turned around Monday morning and were heading to northeast Pennsylvania. This trip was one I had been praying much about and was excited to see how God might work. Well, as always, God did some great things especial in the life of this small ping pong ball!

Here is a small glimpse of not only what God was doing at Teen Leadership Conference 2014, but a preview of the rising generation who loves and is passionate about Jesus Christ! To God be the glory, enjoy!

Back from Brazil!

It’s summer. Summer means vacation, visits, weekend get away’s, and mission trips. And this past month I had a great opportunity and privilege to embark on a mission trip to one of the most desirable places this year…Brazil. With all the World Cup hype and futbol frenzy Brazil is a country of great focus this summer. While I, my wife, and the six students that went, did not go to Brazil for the World Cup; we realized the great prospect for furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ God gave us. Here is a brief recap of our trip. I hope to share more in the posts to come, but for now enjoy the sights of Porto Alegre Brazil!

Feature Friday (6/13/14)

brazil-worldcup-20141Yesterday started a new short term adventure for myself, my wife, and six students from our church student ministry. As with most student ministries, missions trips are an integral part to exposing American students to other lifestyles and culture. These types of trips were used greatly by God in my life and the  life of my wife. However, there are a few truths that rarely get discussed when heading out on a mission trip. This article discusses a few of those very rarely discussed truths.

Enjoy and as always be with the Lord’s people on the Lord’s day!
