A kind friend. A financially responsible young adult. An upstanding citizen. A committed church member. A hard worker. A faithful spouse. And the list could go on and on and on. There are so many things, as a parent, that I want to instill and see my children grow up to be. Some have to do with competencies, others have to do with conduct. But by and far the greatest desire I have for my children is in the character department. Above all else, I want my children to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

I want my kids to have a faith that stands firm beyond the walls of our house and the years of our direct influence. It is an overwhelming task. It is a burden I can only bear when I recognize I am not the one who is ultimately responsible for the salvation and sanctification of my children. But I do play a role.
