I've idealized every stage of my life. Idealization is like that...all pomp and circumstance but lacking suffering and consequence. Ideas are great, but life is real.
The entry of one lone man seemed to have been a spectacle. Crowds had formed. Praises were exclaimed. Homes were emptied. Palm branches and robes were laid out.
But whenever you or they bring up a certain topic, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Your palms begin to get sweaty and you feel your heart rate rise ever so slightly. This all strikes you as strange since you genuinely enjoy this person's company and truly love them. So why do these areas of conversation cause a physiological response?
The internet is a funny place. There are those who love it. There are those who hate it. But whichever you are, you must admit that it infiltrates every aspect of our lives.
Researchers and sociologists have noted how too much information can cause information overload. Information overload has many negative side effects including confusion and frustration, but there is another one I am seeing on a personal interaction level. With the rise of accessibility to information, there appears to be an inverse correlation to confidence in authority.
One issue I have observed during this political season among followers of Jesus is a tendency to one of two positions. I think both are deeply flawed perspectives.
